白萝卜是一种常见的蔬菜，生食熟食均可，其味略带辛辣味。现代研究认为，白萝卜含芥子油、淀粉酶和粗纤维，具有促进消化，增强食欲，加快胃肠蠕动和止咳化痰的作用。中医理论也认为该品味辛甘，性凉，入肺胃经，为食疗佳品，可以治疗或辅助治疗多种疾病，本草纲目称之为“蔬中最有利者”。所以，白萝卜在临床实践中有一定的药用价值。
消化：食积腹胀，消化不良，胃纳欠佳，可以生捣汁饮用；恶心呕吐，泛吐酸水，慢性痢疾，均可切碎蜜煎细细嚼咽；便秘，可以煮食；口腔溃疡，可以捣汁漱口。
呼吸：咳嗽咳痰，最好切碎蜜煎细细嚼咽；咽喉炎、扁桃体炎、声音嘶哑、失音，可以捣汁与姜汁同服；鼻出血，可以生捣汁和酒少许热服，也可以捣汁滴鼻；咯血，与羊肉、鲫鱼同煮熟食；预防感冒，可煮食。
泌尿系统：各种泌尿系结石，排尿不畅，可用之切片蜜炙口服；各种浮肿，可用萝卜与浮小麦煎汤服用。
养生功效：
1、防癌抗癌：萝卜含有木质素，能提高巨噬细胞的活力，吞噬癌细胞。此外，萝卜所含的多种酶，能分解致癌的亚硝酸胺，具有防癌作用。
2、嫩肤抗衰：萝卜中含有丰富的维生素A、维生素C等各种维生素，特别是叶子中维生素c的含量是根茎的4倍以上。维生素c能防止皮肤的老化，阻止黑色色斑的形成，保持皮肤的白嫩。
此外，维生素a和维生素c都有抗氧化的作用，可以有效抑制癌症，也可以预防老化及动脉硬化等。
3、健身防病：白萝卜含芥子油、淀粉酶和粗纤维，具有促进消化，增强食欲，加快胃肠蠕动和止咳化痰的作用。中医理论也认为该品味辛甘，性凉，入肺胃经，为食疗佳品，可以治疗或辅助治疗多种疾病，本草纲目称之为“蔬中最有利者”。
4、清肠排毒：除了维生素，白萝卜中的膳食纤维含量是非常可观的，尤其是叶子中含有的植物纤维更是丰富。这些植物纤维可以促进肠胃的蠕动，消除便秘，起到排毒的作用，从而改善皮肤粗糙、粉刺等情况。
食用方法：
1、蜂蜜白萝卜汁：主要用于腹胀停食、腹痛、咳嗽、痰多等症。
取白皮大萝卜1个，蜂蜜100克。把白皮大萝卜洗干净后，挖空中心，放入蜂蜜，放入大碗内，加清水蒸煮20分钟，熟透即可食用。每天食用2次，早晚各1次，适量服用。适用于急性哮喘之痰多、黏稠以及咯痰不爽者。
2、白萝卜胡辣汤：
取白萝卜1个，白胡椒5粒，生姜4片，陈皮1片。加清水500毫升，煎煮30分钟后，去渣留液，再加入水250毫升煎煮15分钟，摇均后分别装在两个碗中，备用。可每天饮用2次，每次1碗，早晚各1次。适用于痰多以及痰黏难以咳出者[8] 。
3、香菜萝卜生姜汤做法：
食材：香菜3根、白萝卜1个、生姜2大片、冰糖5颗。
做法：香菜洗净后，摘掉叶子留根茎。生姜切片，白萝卜洗净切片，2～3片白萝卜即可。将香菜、生姜片、白萝卜片，放入锅中，放适量水，加冰糖煮15分钟即可。
泡菜：
【主料】：白萝卜（5个）
【辅料】：细葱（100g），蒜（30g），生姜（15g）
【调料】：粗盐（2/3杯），虾酱（3大勺），辣椒粉（5大勺）
【准备】：
萝卜：洗干净后，叶子只留新鲜的嫩的叶子。假如萝卜大，请切4瓣，再均匀的放盐。
细葱：洗干净后，再切成4cm大小。
蒜、生姜：洗干净后，切成细片。
虾酱：加一点水后，煮一下。
【做法】：
1、把腌好的白萝卜再洗一遍后，去掉水份。
2、在大的容器里放白萝卜后，放辣椒粉，再放其他葱、蒜、生姜、虾酱等佐料。
3、搅拌好的白萝卜放在密封盒里，再用萝卜叶盖好。
【制作要点】：用面粉煮成粥后，放到泡菜里，这样可以熟的快，但要尽快吃，因为很快变酸。
【食用】：也可以在制作过程中，拿掉白萝卜的粗硬的叶子后，切成两瓣，红辣椒切成大片。再用粘米煮成粥，然后在粥里放盐、红辣椒、蒜、生姜和适当的水。最后把搅拌好的白萝卜放在密封盒里，然后放佐料汤放进去。[10]
番茄萝卜汤
【主料】：白萝卜300克，番茄150克
【辅料】：小麦面粉30克
【调料】：番茄酱50克，盐3克，味精2克
【做法】：白萝卜洗净切丝。西红柿洗净切丁。坐锅点火倒油，待油烧至三成热时拌入面粉，搅匀成糊，再放番茄酱炒出红油，加适量水及萝卜丝，用文火煮至酥软。最后放入西红柿丁，加精盐、味精调味煮沸，即可起锅，若单用番茄酱，则为“茄汁萝卜丝汤”。
羊肉萝卜汤
【主料】：羊肉(瘦)400克，白萝卜300克
【辅料】：香菜10克
【调料】：酱油2克，黄酒6克，盐3克，色拉油15克，大葱10克
【做法】：羊肉洗净切片，用酱油、绍酒浸入味。萝卜洗净去皮切片，香菜切碎。用油将葱、羊肉炒一下，加入适量清水，加萝卜，中火40分钟，下香菜调味。
【健康提示】：此汤具有开胃健脾的作用。
